After all those years
Finally the day has come
I am going back home
I cannot wait for the plane to land
I already know where I want to go
I have a list of food I want to eat
I step on this soil
I take in this warm scent
A blend of seagrass and incense
I see the places
I relive childhood memories
A mix of sorrow and joy
The people look familiar
But when they speak
Even if it is my mother tongue
I do not get what they say
The streets still have the same names
But the avenues
Once empty and few
Are now so many and full
My school is still where it was
But why do those buildings
Once so large and so tall
Now seem so small?
The shops still sell the same treats
But why do my favorites
Once so rare and so sweet
Now taste so dull?
I go for a walk
On the wooden bridge
In the early morning
To be all by myself
Then when I see
On the river
The reflections of the city and myself
I realize how much
Both of us have grown and changed
We have now become
Strangers

Rentrer
Mais quand ils me parlent
Je vais me promener
